Mooble

Mooble
I love flash as a technology. I love what you can do with it, the interface possibilities it opens up and the less restrictions it places on design. For a couple of years there it seemed every week saw the launch of a revolutionary new design/technique/interface that pushed at the boundaries. Sure they didn't all work but designers and programmers were trying new stuff and revisiting old from a new angle. It was all inspiring and thought provoking.
Now as the technology has matured it seems like people are not trying any more. I am including myself in "people". Just because the technology has settled down doesn't mean that designers have to stop pushing. When was the last truly jaw dropping flash site you seen? Where have all the dedicated Flash showcase sites gone? It seems like CSS and simplicity is the newer cuter baby and pushed flash out of the play pram.

Wow! I don't know where that rant came from! I only wanted to mention the new Mooble dating site from cork. All flash, fast, and impressive back end and interaction. Design isn't jaw dropping but suits the intended audience and its nice to see some new flash projects coming out.

Thanks to Brian O'Neill for the link.

Fresh2Cook

Fresh2Cook
When designing a dark site the main worry is that it will be too overpowering and oppressive. That is especially a worry when you are selling food. Stewart Curry has done a great job in avoiding that and using the black to successfully push the food and brand. Damn it now i am hungry...
Great food photography. Anyone know if it is more of Stewarts work or who is responsible for the snaps?

Candy 3

Candy 3 Magazine
Issue 3 of PDF magazine Candy is now out. Grab it now and read it when your boss isn't looking.
There seems to be much more of a music focus this time around and more international designers. Does this mean they have run out of good Irish designers to feature or simply a broadening of the magazines focus?

Stripes II

Spoiltchild Stationery Set
Well i went with the hardcore stripes and i am very chuffed with the result.
Here is a sample of the range and the clear address label in use on the edge of the envelope. I just noticed the font on the envelope address is still the old one. Need to update that.

Letterhead Decision

Spoiltchild Stationary
Updating the stationery set for Spoiltchild as the old one stinks. Usual story, a temporary set was designed to be used in a hurry that ended up never being changed. So to go with the new logo, site and newsletter we needed a new stationery set. Of course it does mean that i will be left with another four boxes of business cards to go with the two boxes left over from the original set!(If anyone has any good recycling tips for these please let me know.)

Down to three final options but i am unsure if the green stripes one is too over powering or just the right amount of "in your face".
What do you think?

Gray.

Light Green.

Front

Front
It's like Knightriders KITT on a road of old ford escorts, only classier. In fact imagine KITT was being driven by Devon on his way to an evening gala and it would be closer. One of the nicest designed sites i have seen in a while. Belfast's Front.

And if that's not slick enough they still have their "old" flash site on-line.

Fluent Design

Fluent Design
New flash site from Peter Kelly AKA Fluent Design. The site has a great light n airy feel and looks super. Not many work samples up yet and some work choices a bit of a let down but i believe he is still adding final touches so perhaps more is to come.
Cow image is great and i would like to have seen that quirky stylised imagery used throughout instead of the cliché business type used.
